Contributing 50 dollars monthly...
I have seen IV actively working on behalf of all us (non immigrants). but i do think we (IV) can do more if all members contribute . I have few suggestions ..
1) if all members contriute monthly and having sufficient funds, IV can hire few lawyers to provide legal advice on inexpensive rate.. directly competeing with Murthy and others....
I m sure all members can hire IV for legal advise.
2) Create a community and help members who lost jobs recenlty...

Appreciate your feelings towards this community but personally i think IV need to have a system in place to reimburse expenses incurred towards the administrative costs, as suggested by mgos.
Atleast i think these funds we are collecting now should be directed towards an administrative expenses account for reimbursing you and all other core team IV members for the amount spent already.
Please arrange for setting up an administrative account (or should it suffice to just make the paypal contributions with a specific message saying something like "REIMBURSEMENT").

I have been working in the non-profit sector for the past 8 years and from experience suggest that in order for this movement/advocacy campaign to sustain it is important for us to have a system in place where core campaign members are reimbursed for their past and recurring expenses. We have contributed to IV previously and would like to pledge $200 towards Aman's expenses.

My Receipt and Notice date is July 03, 2008, however there was a soft LUD on my case on July 08, 2008. And again another LUD on August 14, 2008 which is the approval.

Is July 08, 2008 also the Notice Date on your receipt notice? I'm wondering if generally there is one more LUD after the notice date and before the approval, when they pull the file off the shelf and start working on the case.
for me no LUD after notice date.

My vote goes for DC on 7/14. Many people like me might have already used their time off recently to get a medical exam and paperwork for I-485. I live in Baltimore area and simply cannot make it to DC on a weekday. If I lose my job I won't get a green card - as simple as that.
If there are others in Baltimore area who would like to join the action please don't hesitate to contact me. We could car pool and get together to make signs. I'll also try to gather some friends, although it might be tough on a short notice - almost everyone is on vacation.
I dont need to tell you how DC looks like on a weekend. None but visitors. Your boss must be really cruel to let you go for ever if you need to take half day off. Just joking :) Go ahead and create a poll with all possible options and then you can figure out what is the best option

What are the tax implications for Aman or other recieving this. We dont want uncle sam to take a cut from something like this. Is there any CPA who can throw some light on this?
Maybe this money can be used to create an expense account which can reimburse Aman and others for their expenses. We got to convince the Core to let democracy in IV work one time to create this account.

Excluding dependents is like making the Cap 2.5 times, when I say least controversial I intend to that everybody in the legal immigrant community will support it. If the cap becomes 300K Per annum, Iam sure everybody by which I mean even if somebody has filed for his / her labor today will get approved within 2 years (Equivalent to 600K visa numbers). Of course this will require a change of law but nobody EB1, EB2, EB3, ROW, India / China would oppose this as everybody's process gets speeded up. There is no other way to clear the backlog in its entirety and ensure that it does not happen again like this solution of excluding dependents.

But beleive me its not that easy to find company Z at least in miami. Major clients don't even interviewH1b candidates.. same old story...
I would love to take revenge with company X at some point in my life :(
Sometimes I feel submit I-485(whenever dates becomes current and pray to the god that Company X don't cancel my I-140) using an initial employement letter from company X and hope it will take more than 180 days and then show paystubs of Company Y upon RFE.

I'm not a legal counsel/mentor or lawyer but in mY opinion - You find a company Z which has similar criteria as Y but only additional criteria is they will bear the cost of your GC - Its not difficult to find such Z ( worst case they may ask you to sign a bond of 7-10K if you leave them 1 yr after GC) ....
After you get GC or EAD at hand you have lots of avenues open to tackle any bond that Z might have made you sign.

I have a bad feeling about IVs goals. Are you only concerned about getting the GC backlogs cleared? or are you going to be asking for H1b related issues to be addressed too? eg:- H1b renewal after the 6th year is an issue any moron could easily understand and pass. That has been there for many years and should continue for a successful H1b program. Please take care of that issue too. I dont see that included in the letter you have prepared to be sent out to all the senators. Please do that urgently. This is a very techinical issue and can easily be campaingned for. Pls dont ignore it.

folks who got their GC recently - i was wondering what the post "card production ordered" timeline looks like. How long did it take to get the GC in hand once the CPO email/LUD was received, and what other updates did you receive along the way?
