Over the past 4 years, I have contributed to IV several times. I was also a monthly subscriber of $20 for over a year until my credit card expired and the payments stopped.
What pains me is that inspite of several requests, i have not been granted access to donor forms. Perhaps there is a waiting list for donor access or my priority date is not current for the same.:confused:
I will try my best to make it to DC events, but please accept my small contribution in case i am unable to make the trip.

Yes, registering with the Police department of the city is a must. All they need (at least in San Jose) is your name, driver's license number etc. They will register it.
You dont need permit for walking on sidewalks. You need permit only if you plan to stop traffic and block streets. None of us want to do that.
Check with your city's police department and find out how to register for march on sidewalks without stopping traffic. I guess that's a lot easier than getting permits to stop traffic etc.
Now, as to rallies other than San Jose rally, if you plan to lead the rally and get the event registered, then please email me at jay@Immigrationvoice.org and I will help you get members. I have list of all members and their states and once you finalize the event, I will email the entire list and point them to you. I will also provide you with material, guidance and Immigration voice's message and talking points should you be approached by a reporter. In fact, its a good idea to tell local papers in your area before hand so that the know to cover the event.
Members in NYC, Washington DC, Chicago, LA etc should have absolutely no problems in finding enough members planning to walk on the street for an hour. I will help you find enough participants in your city, if you send me an email and if you are ready to lead these events.
Nice to see the momentum is picking up. It would be great if all the rallies (in different cities) are planned on the same day to have maximum coverage to get more attention. Who knows we might even get some national media coverage - especially if 3 or 4 rallies succeed.

I have only seen just one or two cases so far with receipts I mean filed on Jul 2. I myself am a Jul 2 filer NSC filer with TSC approved 140 and haven't gotten anything yet....I also had the LUd on 7/28/07.
I have counted my self from diff forums and seen around 10+ cases who got their RN's.

You all do amazing work and provide great information.I just did my first contribution of $100 and have become a recurring contributor for the same amount.If needed I will increase my contribution for March and April, as I will not be able to attend the event due to Family.
I tried to convince 4 EB3 friends with a priority date between mid 2002 and late 2003 , and all of them have lost hope for GC and they are just very pessimist about the process .
There are some who are concerned about not getting green cards , but give the excuse of being busy.I am trying to convince them to contribute and attend.

You are very practical and have excellent points.
Sometimes, ppl do get carried away by their passion (height of desperation if one looks at it another angle). We have to accommodate folks that cannot have a nonchalant attitude towards Immigration. Just like health care, GC stirs up our deepest and strongest emotions. For many, GC is an all-or-nothing proposition (again let's not fret about why it might be so, because they might have their own good reasons). Regardless, i agree with you completely, civility should not be lost. We have a broken Immigration system - all i care is how to fix it.
I am becoming a donor for the following reasons -
1. It is better to be informed and be involved rather than be "out of the loop" or in the dark
2. It is not free to get anything done in the commercial capital of the planet
3. Selfish motivation - life is short. i would like to see the end of this struggle as soon as i can. personally, cannot be a mute spectator esp. when i see someone else fighting for MY cause and I being fortunate to lend a helping hand
4. Altruistic motivation - gives some meaning to life whether we get anything done or not at the end of the day. if successful, would have the satisfaction of being part of the solution - the intangible benefits of that feeling is unexplainable.
Wish us luck and my best to everyone in all their endeavors.

Well, culture has tremendous impact on people. Looking at the state of our country, what have we become in last 63+ years? Major percentage of population still live under poor living conditions. We are one of the most corrupted countries in the world. Some people want to live in denial. Boasting about greatness that doesn't exist is of no use to the current and future generations. We have to make our country great by changing the conditions. In order to do that, first we need to acknowledge that there are serioous issues. Unless we all unitedly agree that the conditions are pathetic and will worsen, nothing is going to change.
Agree 100%. You have to acknowledge that there is a problem before you can fix it. And I have no shame in accepting that there are problems. I am also proud of where India has reached in the last 20 years or so (especially since some of the purely socialist policies became capitalist leaning). Today Indians are giving Americans some serious and tough competition for jobs, not an easy feat. According to me, things are always grey - there is no black and white. So be proud of your achievements, and learn to accept problems and work on them is my motto in life.
I consider myself a pro-business and a not-so-emotional person. I go where I see a business opportunity. Right now I see great opportunities waiting to be grabbed in India, and I am going back in pursuit of them. India or the US - I know that I will be happy in either place. How about deciding the position in the queue based on the utility bill. If you consume more energy/utilities/sewage, you are creating jobs for the guys at the local water treatment plant, sub-station or power generating station, who then go to local eating joint to create more jobs/business, who buy stuff from farmers, who ........

Let me first of all thank you for taking a strong stand for your highly skilled employees at this critical time. I am on an H1b visa and am a certified professional working in this country. I just wanted to ask you a few question. The biotech firms employ a lot of people on H1b visas. How come none of them, excluding Genentech, is included in the compete america group's letter to the congress. I strongly feel and pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, other biotech companies should also be included to stand for the H1b visa and green card issue for their employees. Seccond question I would like to ask is about the provision to renew the H1b in increment of 3 years each after the 6th year, which apparently has been taken off in this new CIR bill. This is a very technical issue and employers would not want to loose the trained employees after the 6th year period. It does not make any sense to refuse renewability of the H1b after 6 years since by that time that employee has already become an asset to the company or this nation. Please make sure to stand for that particular issue. H1b should be renewable in increments of 3 years each if the GC has been filed by the 5th year. Let me thank you for successfully campaigning for increasing the H1b numbers and hopefully this will enable me to move from my present acadamic position (Ast Prof at XXXXXX) to an Industry. I understand and I have been there. I can tell you one thing, FIGHT them. Don't sit and wait, write, call, contact DHS, USCIS, your local Congress person, contact ACLU.org, some non profit organizations who have been helping immigrants like you and I.

In my humble opinion USCIS cannot be sued for NOT following their own guidelines. Thats the difference between guidelines and laws...But again I am not a lawyer.

We received our two year EAD from TSC on August 4th. RD and ND June 18th. No worries for two years.
