Quick question for thosewho have already recieved their receipt notice????
What does the priority date column say on your receipt notices? I mean does it show the actual priority date or is blank????
I am happy to announce that I have received the EAD cards today (just like rc0878 had suggested). I should not have doubted the encouragement and estimation of the experience here.
So, I received the EAD cards dated Sept 18th, expiry is one year from the issue date i.e. Sept 17th, 2008 (unlike someone else's cards which were valid for only 3 months).
Let me know if someone wants to ask any other information.

I was just wondering that how come only desi employers are branded as "blood sucking manicas" etc etc ..? Doesn't there exist same kind of breed from other nationalities ? if not, then question is why we desis are like that ? any idea ?
All the desi employers I ran into or my friends ran into turned out to be blood suckers. before that I was employed by an american company for 6 years and I had no complaint whatsoever.
I think most of us desis consider other desis to be inferior and treat them so.

Guys inorder for DOS or DHS or USCIS to get the message they will FIRST and FOREMOST have to understand WHO Gandhi is. For that we will have to attach a few pages of documentation about Mahatma Gandhi. By the time the message gets to the correct person's hands AND he/she understands the true meaning of the message, the person will think we insulted them, coz the the flowers will be dead and dried up and STINKY.

EB-3 porting to EB-2 is ging to slow down EB-2. Everybody is fighting over this, btu has anybody tried to find actual number associated with porting? Mr. O said "thousand"..well..how many..4000, 5000, 10,000......all the calculation done on another thread already have accounted for about 6000 porting, per year..
Remember folks, these days companies are shying away from immigration related stuff, so for an EB-3 individual to be able to file in EB2 is not as easy as it sounds. I personally know 4 guys, one IT and 3 non-IT, whose companies have simply refused to entertain any request for upgrading the EB category.
So, laro matt..
Help IV to work in the direction of STEM Exemption, Visa recapture, dependent count elimination, country cap removal etc. Personally, I think STEM exemption should be the easiest to accomplish, but hey, we all know the ground reality.

Understand your point and agree too. But Monday is busy for everybody including me. I do want to participate and so are my other friends but Monday ior wednesday is just not good for us.
But other then that we can make it any day. I am sure more people will do it on Friday morning..
I recommend a Monday to a Friday. Most of the media/office folks will take friday off as well like you and me. Media will be fresh on monday and people will get good E fares to fly out into DC on Saturday and fly out on Monday night/Tuesday early morning (if at all some one comes out of town). Also forget the 1000 number. We can have a good impact if we have 300+ members and families. When you put a poll out there, have 2 options for sure
a) I will come to DC on any day at any cost to attend this rally.
b) I want to come but I dont know how it will work out, when the day comes.

Atleast your DESI employers start GC early maybe after 6 months. Most american employers dont even start GC until you are in 5th year of H1. Employers are employers, they dont come with nationalities on their forehead. There are so many american companies who have filed bankruptcy when a large payment was pending and your desi employer attempted to recover it.

making our first campaign(revision of VB) successfull. As you mentioned that we need to continue this fight even if one has recieved there green card. For those who got, need to remember the pain they went through and that of other's who are going through it now! This blackbox of Employment based Green Card process needs to be more fit towards the high-tech century when everything else is.

I totally agree - our concern should begin and end with whether our interests are addressed or not. This is not the time to argue and nitpick on what is good for the whole world in the long term - remember, there is no "long term" for us without a GC. Lets be realistic - its a done deal that EB reform if all it comes up, will come with either a generous H1-B increase or illegal alien amnesty or both of them. Its not our job to worry about excessive immigration - the anti-immigrants and their friendly congressmen are always there to raise a hue and cry and dilute any and all pro-immigrant proposals. With them at work, if we ask for a yard we will get a foot, if we ask for a foot we will end up with not even an inch.
Well, it is not a perfect world. It is not a perfect system. When CIR comes up every group will push for their interests. If u send a mail to any Senator, all u get is a standard reply about H1-B. It will be impossible to educate every ligislator. We have to do the best we can to voice our concerns and go with the tide. We cannot nitpick the sections of the CIR and tell the legislators vote only for these. We just make sure that our issues are addressed in whatever bill comes up.

My husband received CPO mail on 08/04, welcome mail on 08/05, soft LUD on 08/06 and approval notice sent mail on 08/09 but dated 08/08 in USCIS status. Hoping to have the GC in hand next week.
Anyone who has the same chain of events or received GC for CPO mail on 08/04 or later?

Even a credit card bill takes about a week to reach you ! You will definitely get his card next week, i'm sure you and child will also get approvals soon. At least there is movement on your family's case.
